The perfect weekend getaway from Athens
Nature, fresh air, history, knowledge, socializing, food and of course… wine! Not sure how you can combine all these?
Well, pretty easy, come visit us at Domaine Hatzimichalis, a family-owned historic winery just 1,5 hours from Athens.
Step 1: Take your car, your friends’ vehicle or the bus (ideal, if you want to take a nap…) and head to our winery in Atalanti. If you are coming from Athens, you will be taking the highway surrounded by beautiful mountains and lake Υliki. After a short 1,5 hours’ drive through the beautiful scenery, you’ll reach your destination!

Step 2: Arrive at Domaine Hatzimichalis. Our host will welcome you and once you breath the fresh air and stretch, the tour begins!

Step 3: Tour of the winery, the vines, the cellars and our exhibits. Our tour guide will walk you through the production process and explain our unique techniques of wine making (well most of them…). Starting from outdoors and the actual vines and then continuing to our tanks and of courses our prestigious wine cellars. The misty smell of wine and wood will probably conquer your senses, but do not surrender, you must be ready for the next step… the wine tasting!

Step 4: You will be tasting our fabulous wines by choosing among our wine tasting options depending on your desires. Our host and Sommelier will explain to you the aromatic and tasting profile of each wine you try, as well as some basic wine and food pairing tips.

Step 5: (Pre order required…) What a wonderful and full day, time to have some local food! You will be provided with a menu prior to your visit, from which you can choose the dishes you would like to eat. Our restaurant is part of the winery, where you can always choose between indoor and outdoor dining.

(Optional Step): If you are more adventurous and a nature lover, we have an additional option for you. We can show you around our mountainous vineyards of around 150-450 meters altitude. You will be amazed by the beautiful landscapes, the biodiversity and of course by our 220 hectares of vines. Needless to say you’ll want to have your camera with you!
